Last week Crunchroll sat down and had an interview with Kejii Inafune. He produced hit like lost planet and MegaMan. He dives deep into the fact the he sees Japan putting their money on old game titles instead of coming up with new ones. For the record Kejii doesn’t ask Japan to stop making them but to change in different way so that it is refreshing. Even though from Kejii perspective he referring to Japanese game development as whole. I see as something else. Japanese game companies are basically doing what we all do vote on the winner. In the game and movies are the same and almost coast the same so to make a new title is somewhat difficult. especially in the game industry were if the game isn’t great you lose your studio. A colt hit doesn’t mean big bucks after all. At the same the game can’t stay the same. Just like you can’t tell the same story over and over again. You can’t use the same exact gameplay. Granted they can’t move away from it too far but it can’t be the exact. This i can only imagine creates a narrow type walk in which we the players need new gameplay, story and stages. At the same time we need to be able to recognize it. Kejii asks game developers in Japan to take risk the only problem is how much of one should they take it. After all we have all heard the saying no risk no reward. http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2012/03/08/keiji-inafune-japan-cant-just-rely-on-nostalgia-for-its-games
PS Kejii i salso worried about the MegaMan Franchise also.
