doa 5 is here

The newest Dead Or Alive is here. Before we begin I should remind or inform those who are about to read this that I do not play online. So you will not find that here instead I will give a link to someone who did. Also there may be spoilers so if you want to get this in this and discover things for yourself stop now.

Lets begin with arcade mode. You have eight rounds with random selected opponents wich is different from last time as the fourth round usually has you fighting your rival. Also in arcade there is no boss or endings. I guess story mode makes up for that. The greatest addition is the difficulty option. In DOA 4 you went into the Arcade mode with no choice and felt like the computer wasn’t just selecting your opponent but also the difficulty.

Story mode feels great.  It starts with  Bayman being attacked in the middle east by someone who is extremely fast and uses a sword. He thinks the attakcer was a ninja and sees Helena. She tells him that the new Doatec has nothing to do with but he doesn;t believe her and begins his own investigation. The story then splits with those fighting in the tournament and the other dealing with Bayman attacker. The characters roles in the story fit except for the Virtual Fighters who are their but don’t say anything directly. The best way to put it they are pulled into the fight because the were in the audience and don’t have a script.Sarah and Tina are perfect examples of this. Even though Tina and Zack are having an argument about Zack mistaking Sarah for Tina she just shrugs it off and doesn’t say a word to either of them. I know they are guest in the game in all but shouldn’t they say something. Also unlike mortal kombat you can skip scenes so if you just want to get through the chapter you can. The main issue for me is that story mode has a boss and it is an alpha that has mixed with every ninja in the game. To be honest I was looking forward to a orignal boss but given the story line I shouldn’t have.

Graphics are amazing everyone looks and stunning and everything runs great except for the construction zone danger zones where once you hit them everything starts falling apart and it can stun you. The damage is little but the fact you can’t see it coming is a bit annoying.  Also the boobs for those who are interested are still off as they don’t resemble human breast but rather water balloons.

The last thing I need to touch up on is the pow blow. A animated combo but even team ninja wants us to feel it as a a super move it is better seen as an eqaulizer allowing the fighter who is behind to catch up if they time it right. The down side to that feeling is that it is a charge move and leaves you open so it brings balance into quesiton. As it feels more like a show off move if you can hit it.

All in all if you are a fan you won’t be disappointed but if you are a new comer go on in the water is fine.
