Sonic Boom Fall Focus Groups

Sonic Boom sonic recent game meant to reinvent the series didn’t to well. Former Sega of America producer Stephen Frost sat down to give an interview explaining why the game went wrong. In the article Stephen notes the feed back from focus groups as well as ambition are the reason for the game failure. The focus groups complained about the speed and that there gaming experience was ruined by the fact they couldn’t control Sonic to well so the speed was dialed down. Ambition because Stephen thinks the game was packed too much new things and it drowned in it.

To me the article high lights an overall issue with our favorite speeding hedgehog in the fact Sonic still has found that balance between new and old gamers. Sonic is from the old days and he was all about speed in the fact that he had to deal with 2d stages. Now that will not due and Sega is trying to figure out how to move forward. Before anyone can say it yes I have taken Sonic Adventure into a count but that success of getting a 3d platform for the first time is hard to replicate.
