Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator Burst Overdrive Did It Work

Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator is the newest game in the franchise and adds new characters Jack-O with returning ones Johnny and Jam along with new mechanics. One new mechanic is Burst Overdrive which drains your burst gauge to amplify one certain overdrive. The reason why this was installed was so that players can have more uses of the burst gauge then bursting out o combos or filling up their overdrive gauge with gold burst. With that in mind I have been watching videos of matches and notice that it is rarely used which makes one ask did it work. I would have to say no as I stated before the old gameplay habits seems to be in full swing leaving this to be after thought or just forgotten by players. The most I say it begin used which was in the early beginning with Slayer players as his overdrive counts as a clean hit on top of the added damage. Clean hit means it isn’t as reduced as other moves might be. Slayer is a good example as his specials are mostly clean hit so h can do long chain of damage. Sol can do it as well but he only has two moves as compared to Slayer large array of them. Using overdrive burst right incase you are wondering leaves players with the same amount of burst as if they had just burst out of a combo. Also red team at Arc System Works did this so players will start using Overdrives more instead of just draining the gauge by canceling into one combo after the other. Taking that in they might want have made the damage like we see in street fighter v so that is more significant as the damage for some overdrives in small also iffy as depending on how much life the opponent has it can be big or small. You can judge for yourselves as I will post videos below where you can see if the new stuff is actual in use or is it too soon to tell? You decide and let me know.
