Yesterday it was said by the New Yorker that Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima left Konami on the 9th with a big blow out missing only the president and ceo. Well today Konami once again is on the defense as they said that Kojima didn’t leave the company but that him and his team are simply on vacation.
“Currently, Kojima and the development team are finished developing Metal Gear Solid V and are taking a long time off from work. ”
The spokesman didn’t have a good defense for the party that was held though.
“Because the development time for console games is so long and fatigues builds up, it’s common for employees to take extended periods of time of when development is finished”
Konami is caught in a bind here as fans and many others are saying the great game creator has left or is leaving while they say he has not. Now Konami has said in many ways that Kojima is here to say but fans (thanks to the miss handling of his studio beak down) find it hard to believe him. Konami has good reason to lie to as their stock took a hit during the name issue. It would be nice of Kojima can set things straight but he is under gag order of sorts so that is out. We might not know what the full deal is until December. According to the New Yorker where according to their story he will be free from all legal binding so he can tell his story. Kojima either stays proving this was all wrong and Konami was telling the truth or leaves showing Konami was doing damage control.
