Final Fantasy XV Gambit & Monsters

Even though we were told by Hajime that the real big news for Final Fantasy XV won’t be dropped until March 2016  we can still learn about the small stuff. Today we learn about the combat system in that it will not resemble Final Fantasy XII gambit system but something else fitting towards the real time combat.

“We have created a system for FFXV where the player can decide the battle style that they and their comrades use, although this takes a different form to the gambits in FFXII. ” Says AI programmer Prasert Prasertvithyakarn.

That is not all as the player understands real time with their party they must understand real time with the monsters anatomy. The article also notes that attacking an destroying limbs will affect the enemy.

There is a gameplay mechanic where you can debilitate enemies by destroying parts of their anatomy and it plays an important role in battle. It is possible to make these kinds of attacks against specific areas on gigantic monsters by either striking them directly using the warp ability or by positioning yourself by the enemy’s vulnerable spots using parrying actions against their attacks.”  Lead game designer  Yuji Kenichiro

Small stuff but big impact when thinking about how the battles in the game can go.
