Given it is New Years Eve I decided to look back on a few things threw post. This one will be fighting. I will put the games I have covered in perspective.
Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator
The next chapter in the xrd series GGXRD-r brings back old characters Johnny and Jam while introducing a new one Jack-o to the fighting ring. New mechanics Burst Overdrive, Blitz Shield and dust strike to now knock enemies forward or pop them up. Episode mode mixes arcade and story mode together to the mix fans are use to but have seen little as Leo’s is the only full one that has hit the internet. At the moment fans are waiting to see Dizzy enter the game as they wonder what the maiden of the grove will bring to the battle to prevent the revival o Justice.
Blazblue Central Fiction
The next chapter in the battle for the azure Blazblue Central Fiction has the characters trapped in a nightmare controlled by the powerful Nine. Only certain character are aware of it. The game adds Naoto and Hibiki to the fight while most recently the boss Nine has been thrown into the mix. The game introduces active flow and exceed acceel. The interesting part is that the game is still in arcade and Arc System Works is still adding on to it in terms of content. Most of the time it would be arcade, console update to add things that were add to the console to the arcade and then back to console.
Street Fighter V
Street Fighter V hits opponents with Ryu and Chun Li with each entry to the game getting their own trailer with the exception of Birdie and Cammy who were introduced together. This gave it a tv show feel as each trailer might as well be a preview for the next episode. The line up threw people for a loop as it is a mix of old favorites and those who didn’t get into Street Fighter 4 like Birdie and Karin. Capcom has promised that we will receive DLC for not just characters but updates to the game rather updated solid disc version with Super Street Fighter IV and so on. As a fan I am interested to the story mode they are going to us in the game.
The King Of Fighters XIV
The King Of Fighters XIV was previewed at TGS and was met with concern as many pointed the bad graphics which slowly we shown to be early development and slowly people started to see promise in it. Fans were eventual sold on the game at PlayStation Experience as fans playing the game showed the old gameplay was their. Alsop 50 character sealed the deal. Interesting enough we have the team who worked on Street Fighter 4 up to Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition working on the game as they were from the old days of Snkplaymore. What this means is that KOF XIV might go through with what we say with SF4 and all of it updated versions. Fans have excepted it with others not saying anything or waiting for the release before making their judgement. To me that resembles KOF XIII as many fans weren’t really happy with it until they got it into their hands or on their PC as steam shows. KOF XIV is the same in that regard.
Mortal Kombat X
Mortal Kombat X is taking the new generation like Cassis Cage and making sure they know the old ones aren’t out of the game yet like Jax and Lui Kang. The game play has players choosing a play style for their character from Jaqui with her different gloves and tech to Sub Zero and how you want him to use his ice. The game has just recently announced their second set of DLC character with old Favorite Bao the teach of Lui and Kung Lao old impersonator Tri Borg who is to be a chameleon cyber ninja representing cyber ninjas who came before him. New horror movie characters Xenazoid from Aliens and Leather face will be joining in. The game character and story is the small issue to me as characters who are human in arcade mode like Kitana and Lui Kang are never explained on how that case to be when they were still possessed. Small issue in a big game that is still growing.
Killer Instinct
I never got into it but the game did catch my interest as Killer Instinct characters and gameplay seem to follow the same thing as Guilty Gear no matter how wacky or serious the character it will catch your interest. With the rebirth through Iron Galaxy we see old character and new ones mix challenging not only themselves through the player skills but the character mechanics as each one has their own way of fighting. The game once again is something that will grab your interest. Especially since we have Season 3 to look forward to.
