What Japanese Think Of White Washing Video

I stumbled onto a video from a channel of The Japanese Man Yuta. The video has him asking Japanese people what they think about white washing. For those who have not hear white washing is when you hire a white actors and actress to play role for character of different ethnic groups.

The movies in question are live action versions of Ghost In The Shell and Death Note. The reactions are interesting as one said that it is about skill that the actress can pull the part off. Another said that having Johanson play Motoko makes it looks Anime. While I try to figure that last one out please take a look at the video and like.

Omg I so glad you posted this video. I swear to god I was just thinking about this today. How Japanese feel about scarlet playing the role. I guess. They don’t really mind. I think in America it’s a lot of history to racism so that is why America criticizes way more about white washing. In Japan they don’t have the same history.
