Capcom Pro Tour details are announced. With $600,000 on the line(that is right 100,000more than last year) players better prepare. Capcom said it s going to make things simpler so that we can focus on players and great matches rather than rules. Now t make sure I don’t mess up or forget anything I will past a lot of the article below.
“smoothed out so that players are better rewarded for the events they compete in.
Additionally, the amount of players earning points at each event has been expanded. The breakdown is as follows:
• EVO: Top 256 Players
• Premier Events: Top 64 Players
• Ranking Events: Top 16 Players
This particular change was made in hopes of making things more straightforward throughout the tournament season and to give a more logical weighting to the amount of points rewarded to players and the number of players who get points. “We understand there is a big difference between getting top 32 at EVO and top 8 at a Ranking Event and want this to be reflected in the amount of points gained through placing at various events,” the blog post reads.
The 2016 Capcom Cup champion returns
As for the final two Capcom Cup spots? One is automatically awarded to last year’s Capcom Cup winner, Du “Liquid|NuckleDu” Dang. Though the current champion is guaranteed to compete at the end-of-the-year event, he will still have to battle throughout the tournament season for top seeding at the finals and the cash prizes available at Premier events and Regional Finals.
Last Chance Qualifier
The final Capcom Cup spot will be determined by way of a last chance qualifier set to take place at the event. This tournament will be open to anyone who wishes to compete, and the winner will be the last competitor to qualify for the finals.
Capcom aims to have the Capcom Cup be an event that incorporates all players from all over the world, not only those who have qualified. Capcom Cup Tournament Format
Capcom Cup 2017’s tournament format has also seen revisions. While details are currently scarce, we do know that the event will be moving to a “group stage format.” This will make it less strenuous on players and the tournament staff, while keeping the viewing experience pleasant for spectators. More information on this format is expected to drop later this year.
Prizing
Since we are seeing a larger prize pool this year, there have been some slight alterations to the prize distribution. Regional Finals will now have $30,000 up for grabs, and every competitor at the Capcom Cup will be going home with some money in their pocket.
Premier and Ranked Event Structure
Players who win Premier events will be handsomely rewarded with a tremendous amount of Capcom Pro Tour points to help them secure a spot on the Capcom Cup line up. This will help competitors ensure that they qualify, while effectively getting rid of the auto-qualifying system.
Ranking events, however, will be taking place between April and September this year. These events will be held around the world, and players in each region will earn points that contribute to their Regional Leaderboard standing.
At the end of the Ranking event season, the top 7 players from each region will qualify for their respective Regional Final.
Below is an explanation from Capcom of how Regional Finals will work this year.
Regional Finals Structure
Much like last year, Regional Finals will be two day events that consist of a Last Chance Qualifier on Day 1 where the winner will move onto Day 2, filling out the 8-person bracket. Last Chance Qualifiers at Regional Finals are now region locked, meaning players who do not reside in that region will be unable to compete.
While last year’s Regional Finals were nothing short of amazing in terms of gameplay, we felt we could do more to truly highlight the talent from each region. The events ended up effectively being last chance qualifiers for all regions, and that is something we want to avoid this year. With points being awarded to players only from that region and the last chance qualifier being region locked, we will be able to truly see who the best player from each region is.
As mentioned previously, Regional Finals now have $30,000 up for grabs, which will be distributed among the Top 8 from the Day 2 finals. The winner of each Regional Final will receive 400 Capcom Pro Tour points to help their seeding in Capcom Cup 2017, $12,000 in cash prizes and other rewards, which we will reveal at a later date!
Note: Regional Finals will grant an auto-qualification spot into Capcom Cup 2017 under all circumstances. If the player who wins is still not in the Top 30 of the Global Leaderboards after the 400-point boost, the qualified list of players from the Global Leaderboards will be reduced by one, moving the bottom player out of contention.
Online events
Online Ranking Events are back, and this year we’ll be seeing more of them. Each region will feature four online events that are segmented per region based on proximity in order to provide the best possible connections for players.
Not only that, but the registration cap has been lifted. If you missed out on the fun last year because of a full bracket, you won’t have to worry about that anymore.
