There is a rumor that Neo Geo Battle Coliseum is getting a sequel. Neo Geo Battle Coliseum 2 according to the article will have most of its cast from the first one with a few add ons. According to the post it is the majority of the cast.
The thing here is that the article says it will be a 2d game anime cell shaded. Fans of old SNK want the anime look as not many were happy with The King Of Fighters going from tight anime with XIII to hard 3d with XIV. But they went with 3D because it is cheaper than hand drawn. IF the style sounds familiar that is because it is Arc System Works style that we have seen with Guilty Gear Xrd and Dragon Ball FighterZ. If this true this must mean they figured out a way to make it not as costly. But again that is if it is true. I will post the list of character below.
