For Shadow Hearts Talk To Universal

Light.skylar has just told me some stuff about Shadow Hearts. For those who don’t know it is a series that Sony should try to bring back since they have mentioned bring back JRPG scene. Well it turns out that Light received an email from universal who owns the rights of the title but don’t have a team to work on it. Also that there might have been something in the works in 2016 but with it being to risky that got thrown out.

For that reason we are hoping they give developing the game over to Sony. But in order to show them that we have to show there is a fan base so please take a look at the email link to send Universal your support for the title and the reason why they should bring it back in some form.

“Universal Entertainment Corp (formerly known as azure) owns the IP (Intellectual Property) they confirmed it with me so they are not gone but the original development team Nautilus (Sacnoth) is.

I have talked to them and xseeds in the past while both are passionate about shadow hearts but they were also not optimistic about a new game main reason being the risk involved and that the original developer team has disbanded.

Out of different things which I said and asked about shadow hearts one specific thing they replied and said was that they would personally like to see a prequel to the first shadow hearts. So there may have been some chatter at some stage about that and also there was an interview on gamergeek back in 2016 with machida and kato which kato showed two illustrations but then with the risk involved to do a game better or at the quality like covenant at today’s standard would be too much which probably why we haven’t heard anything.

Personally I think a ps2 classic of shadow hearts covenant would be the best way for a comeback if it has trophies and maybe extras like directors cut content in English etc… and that it wouldn’t have same costs as a brand new game that way it probably wont be as big of a risk and it can be used to test the waters.

Universal told me despite no plans for remasters but they do value everyones support and wont rule out anything in the future. only things us fans can do are email info@universal-777.com and try to hype the series as much as possible.

I think people should contract sony as well to ask how about ps2 classics of shadow hearts they cant really do anything more but if shadow hearts becomes a big request as a classic then who knows

Xseeds / ghostlight are more of a publishing and localization companies they don’t have the rights liked mentioned although despite that they took the time to reply to my emails which was nice. In the end companies like xseeds ghost light or midway(gone now) don’t have a say and have no control over the ip. Universal has always focused on slot machines etc… stepping into videogames was more just a side thing or promoting some of their slots as a lot of their published games were mini games etc… shadow hearts are pretty much the only real games they’ve published after taking control of sacnoth in 2000 then dissolved them in 2007 hence why no proper game was published by them since but difference with Universal is that they do have a say and have control power to do something.”

Again thanks to Light.skylar for enlightening me on this.

As always thank you for reading.

Thanks for posting because its important for people to know and where to ask because I see a lot of people saying across different places even quite a bit recently that they asked xseed or ghostlight even though you may get a very nice reply and get into a small conversation but it wont do anything in the end

Just to add to my post since i kinda rushed typing it
the email which i got from universal was a good while ago back in early 2014
when I emailed a bunch of different places and I just summarised them together
i was planning to make a video explaining everything but i just never got round to it.

When Universal specifically mentioned that they would like to see a prequel but just that the risks were too big and then two years later gamergeek done an interview with machida and kato two of the creators in which they showed 2 illustrations that can not be a coincidence like there probably had to be something going on (just my personal opinion even though universal sort of implied that there may have been something since that they said they would have liked to see it but the risks were too big) if there was an idea it probably would have been scrapped long ago before
who knows it could be while Nautilus still existed could be as far back as 2006 or 2007 just before they were dissolved (that would be 2 years after completing from the new world [in japan]) although last bit just my speculation and what sort of would make sense

they did not go into any huge details about anything but what they did say i think is important

xseeds email was more saying that they were big fans of the series and they wish something can be done but they are not the development team and they dont have the ip.

About shadow hearts covenant that was more my personal opinion it was just my take on it.

Hopefully that can change in the future and something will come.
Main two places to ask are
universal (they have the rights to the ip)
sony (ps2 classic specifically since they probably would not able to do a brand new title)
