One of the big things in The King Of Fighters are the Ikari soldiers. Basically they are law and order as they deal with the fighters and the villains that try to use the tournament for there own ends. They official mercenaries but I think SNK as we see in Destiny is finding another name for them as in the show they are UN Investigators. Something that makes a lot more sense as opposed to the other. Anyway lets go through them shall we.
Heidern
The commander of the Ikari soldiers he is the boss and the adopted father of Leona. He is an assassin and has passed his style onto his daughter so most of his moves can be found with her minus the explosive ear rings. You see in Destiny that he has a thing to Rugal after losing to him at the coast of his eye . What is at this military force dispaosal is hard to say as in XIV we see he has an aircraft carrier. We haven’t seen him take the stage in combat for awhile but mostly he his style has slashes and explosions. Again Just imagine Leona.
Leona
The quite one of the group she is vicious on the battlefield and in fighting. As a member of the Oriochi blood line she was effect by blood riot and looses control. She lost control in 96 to which she was suspended. Ralf had them join KOF 97 to cheer her up. She lost control in 99 an 2003. In fact even with the power some what controlled. Which you may notice in the game when her hair turns red. She is opening up though as we see her laughing at the idea of her teammates showing concern.
Ralf
The leader of the team Ralf is hard to get along with but carrying leader. Similar in fighting style with Clark he is separated by his explosive power which he gained by surviving a nuke. Between this and armor that he has he is a problem to deal with in game in the right person hands. Even though he shares the same style of the others he is more in your face with with vicious attack and long special that just leave you floored. Fact his Galactic phantom is one of the most powerful moves in the series. Its dos tons of damage and is unlockable which leaves you with the only choice of getting out of the way.
Clark
Calculating and hard as hell. Clark the grappler of the group brings his a game to the fight as the tough cool guy. He has super human strength as seen with the way he throws everyone in the game around like they are kids and toughness as he has autogaurd for his supers that rival Ralf. As we see in Destiny he is the one to go to for stake out operations.
Whip
Last we have Whip. K sister is one of the few Ikari warriors who uses a weapon in the game. Introduced during the Nest Saga we saw on the team in XI. Now in this game she is back and had no problem introduce Rock to Voodoo (her whip). It is mentioned that she is the best at spying out of the group in the 2003 graphic novel. I don’t know if it is true in the series. (As it is hard to put things found in the mangas and graphic novels into cannon because not all of them add up.) But it might be something we say as the team was referencing when she infiltrated them on NEST orders. Also Whip is the only from the team who actually uses a gun in game.
Something New
In KOF XIV we see not only Ikari but also Metal Slug characters in the briefing room. This might be SNK trying to put everything into one universe. Basically I see them as a branch of Ikari which would explain why some of the character can be picked in Metal Slug.
