We are continuing with looking at the pillars of The King Of Fighters. Today we are looking at Psycho soldiers. SNK mystics who physics who posses other super naturel powers. We will look at the main ones as I thin only one other has appeared along with them.
But before we go into that we need to touch on that roll with NEST and Ash sagas we see them showing interest in expanding there roll in the series. Yet something happen as that was dropped . You will see what that as we discuss this
Athena
The main hero of the team Athena is a reincarnated goddess and an idol. She posses immense psychic powers probably the most of the team. She is most care free but she does recognize her responsibility. We see this when she made her own team in 2003 despite Chin telling her not too. This is how we have her team with both being absent .
Personality wise she is upbeat. Always try to reach the good people either as an idol or a fighter. This shows both when she tries to convince Kensou that his power will return.
Kensou
Athena biggest fan boy Kensou is one of the team biggest fighters. Even after loosing his powers in Nest Saga but no surprise since he doesn’t use it that much to fight. Which is something he shares with Benimaru and Robert as they might be for comedy but they are a serious fighting threat.
His power of the dragon spirit. A power he shares with Bao and we have seen some of it in game. Story wise it didn’t go anywhere after XI. The thought is that this refered to his dragon form from the original game where they are all from as in that one he could transform into a dragon. But again the KOF story has stopped for now.
Chin
The mast of the drunken fist n dover 4000 years old Chin has boos and wisdom as he trains these super natural youngsters. But when he is not keeping Helping Athena and Kensou with there powers. (Or keeping Kensou mind in the fight rather than Athena).
He is helping other or recruiting them. It depends on how you see his relationship with K as convinced him to join kof throughout the entire saga.
Momoko
Momoko appears in kof xi on Athena team with kensou. She uses capoeira for most of the fight only showing her psychic powers in the form of a quick but big blast. This is because her powers latent and still have to be trained. We wouldn’t see this little girl again until the ending of XIII.
Bao
A young psychic he has a power he shares with Kensou, Something fans wouldn’t come to know until XIII story. He fights as a version of blanka with rolls allowing him to over the screen and other traits. His story was cut short before we can see it conclusion to where SNK was going wit it the power of the dragon. Something Ron was looking into getting and if written right could have been tied off with the end of Ash saga.
