I would to talk about The King Of Fighters XIV and one of the manga based on it A New beginning. There will be spoilers ahead so be warned before proceeding. AGAIN SPOILERS AHEAD.
Now as for the topic at hand we will be discussing the Oriochi the recurring powerful evil in KOF. In the latest chapter of KOFAB we have the Oriochi resurrection mentioned as Vice and Mature give Iori some of there power causing him to into Blood Riot.
I think this is being done to give the Oriochi appearance in the game ending some meaning. When Verse was defeated people who were missing were revealed to be within him. Some of these people were dead and while that works for those who SNK had killed off for story it still leaves some problem with others. One such is the Oriochi was wasn’t just killed of and sealed but needs a host.
In the Ash saga they did break he never manifested. Instead you had Iori and Leona show there blood Riot side through some of there moves to prove that his power was calling out to him.
In the manga they seem to be setting it up so Iori is his sacrifice which is one of the reason why they make him riot. This is cool for the story but the problem is it goes against the characters a bit. Team Yagami don’t care about the Oriochi. All 3 just want Kyo dead. Which makes it difficult to follow if you are a fan of the fighting series but it makes sense as to why Orochi would allow Vice and Mature to return back to the land of the living. For those who don’t know they were killed off in 96 but brought back in XIII.
It will be something to see how Kyo deals with Iori when he is like this but the plot as conflicting as it is something I wanted to high light for those who might wonder why some fans are scratching there heads.
