Square Enix has just hired John Heinecke. If that names sounds familiar it is because John was best known for Blizzard work such as Overwatch and Heart Stone. Square Enix is happy to have him as Amerian SE CEO Phil Rodgers says.
“We are tremendously excited to welcome John Heinecke to the Square Enix family, John’s experience and knowledge will be instrumental in leading our marketing effort.”
John is equally excited to join the team.
“Square Enix has some of the most storired franchises in gaming and I am very excited to join he team. I look forward to building a cutting edge marketing campaign that helps to grow our global audience and passion communities around our games.
Some would say that this is to get Square Enix ready for Final Fantasy VII Remake so they can get the message out there without any mistranslations or misunderstandings as there were with FFXV. But I see it as a necessary move for the company as following E3 press conference. Also we have been hearing about Marketing getting in the way. To remind everyone Square Enix lsot 5% stock after E3. Hopefully John can make sure that doesn’t happen again.
