Why Dragon Ball Super should get rid of super Saiyan god is an argument that Comicbook.com wants to make based on 2 reasons.
1 Super Saiyan god has lead goku to appoint of being op and in that they should return to just being super Saiyan. With the new movie the article say that Dragon Ball Super Broly showed the saiayn power has truly no limit and thus they should return to being super saiayns using this current arc as a sacrifice for the god ki.
There are 2 problems with that. 1 being op in the series at is best sits with ultra instinct and that is something Goku had but can’t tape into again. At least not for the moment. Also Broly power of super Saiyan is his own. The series has only given one other exception showing he is not the best example for why they should look back into just normal super Saiyan. On top of that Super Saiyan Blue which is the most used form Goku and Vegeta have seems to be what SS was for DBZ just a starting point.
God ki is all powerful and thus only those who have can rival it or sense it. We have seen in this series time and time again that not the case. From Freeza, 17 and many other who do not have god ki that the lore set up in the first arc of the series falls apart. It has been one of the new series biggest down side. Especially in the last arc when you have Goku sparing with his other teammates using Super Saiayan Blue and they all do well. The argument he was holding back only works but for some of them.
2nd biggest point is time line. DBS takes place between DBZ and DBGT. telling stories that cover that big stretch of time. The issue with it being that the stories seem to make people question if they will keep GT as cannon.
This has a major issue in that the super Saiyan power is not the only thing that has changed. With the Supreme Kai now back to normal and Freeza being alive. There are a few thing that this series does which calls into question if it will lead to GT proper or redo in a different way. While that was the case when this series started it might not be how it ends as many people show they are still very much in love wit the series and don’t want to end the way it did in GT.
In my opinion DBS seems to reset the series telling how the universal survival tournament ended. We aren’t just focused on what the saiyans can do in a pinch but the others as they can still fight. True the will not be at the level to take the badest enemy down but they will put up a good fight. This will be how some character stay in the fight still getting stronger but not the same that Goku and Vegeta are.
