Dead Or Alive 6 Lessons From Street Fighter V

It seems Team Ninja was taking lessons during Dead Or Alive 6 development. Director Shimbori talks about how they watched people complaining about the lack of story mode in SFV which told them that fans like story mode in there fighting games.

“Some play [fighting games] for the story; some play [them] for eSports. We saw that when Street Fighter 5 came out, it didn’t have a story mode, and there was a lot of controversy around that. Once we saw that, we knew that people really wanted a story mode in their fighting games.

The character roster was selected based on where we were going with the story and narrative, rather than the popularity of the characters. So I’d like to remind everyone that Rachel and Momiji are characters from Ninja Gaiden which, although from the same company, are from a different franchise.

I’m a huge fan of Tag Mode, and I’m sorry to say that it’s not included in this game. The reason behind this, however, is because we ran out of memory on the game itself. And that’s due to the graphical improvements, which consumes a lot of the memory of the game data itself.”

Now to be clear when SFV was announced and sold it guaranteed a story mode which came much later.  Also there was no arcade mode as the story mode was suppose to serve as that function. This left fans with only online play which had its own issues. With that said I think Shimbori noticed the flaw with SFV slowly focused on Esports and thus leaving out some of it die  hard fans. Something they did address with season 3.

On that note the DOA6 looks good gameplay wise and story wise. We get this as a new video has come out. I posted this video earlier but if you missed it is a little piece of story featuring Marie and Helena Douglas  with Raidou, Honoka and the new tech girl making a quick appearance. Check it out.
