Sony New Patient. More Proof Of PlayStation 5 Backwards Compatibility

We have more info regarding on what might be part of the PlayStation 5. Many think the console will be backwards completable and today we have more proof. The patient that made many think this might be happening comes into light.

“As reported by Hokanko-Alt, Sony filed a new patent with the Japanese Patent Office that allows a console CPU to determine whether or not the software it is reading is made for current hardware or past. If it learns that the software in question is from a previous device, the CPU then impersonates the old hardware CPU which would then allow that software to run on the device. Basically, it’s a mechanism that is solely suited to allowing backward compatibility for past generation video games.”

Now the article notes this as running PS4 hardware as one possibility but I read another site that included PS3 and 4. Now at the moment we don’t know if this will be a thing as we don’t know the actual specs of the PS5 let alone how far back this new Sony console will reach. But with time that will change and I hope it will go far back as PS2.
