Sony State Of Play has come and gone leaving people with an odd feeling. I wanted to go over it. This is my opinion so if you disagree with anything I have to say let me know but remember it is how I viewed.
Not for me.
State of play felt as though for the majority it wasn’t for me or fans like me. True it had Mortal Kombat XI with a new trailer something that has been covered here are few times. But the other stuff wasn’t my cup of tea. With the majority talking about VR games and indie projects this felt like the other events PSX 2017 and E3 2018.
With those I felt as though I wasn’t the fan Sony was talking too. Keep in mind I know they have games in development such as Lost Soul Aside, Gungrave Gore and more to show but they chose not show them. Also the energy to these events fells different than in the past with PSX 2017 being low key and E3 2018 being alright but nothing to take my head off with.
What were we hyped for:
Before state of play fans were hyped to hear something new from the company of PlayStation. Final Fantasy VII Remake rumor aside many were hoping to something new or resurrected familiar with Sony old style games fromPS2 era. By this I mean a JRPG or action game.
We instead of shocking us with something from the past we got new stuff for mostly a new generation. Besides VR we also got a new team based game as well as more of Days End. Looking back we shouldn’t be that surprised.
When this was announced many compared it to Nintendo direct. They show off a few things but nothing mind blowing. For many that is what we wanted with at best something that looks intriguing or already announced.
Looking ahead.
Simmons of yo Videogames put as a learning pain as to what Sony has to go through in order to get these states of play right. Something many fans agree and hope they learn. We wanted the loud shocking trailers announcements we get at big expos. What we got is some updates with small games reveals. Hopefully we get those news announcements that has looking at what Sony showed with a great buzz and anticipation rather than us looking at the company saying really. I really hope we get that.
