Hellboy Reboot is out and it is getting slammed by reviews that it isn’t good or doing well in theaters. With this in mind Milla Jovovich who plays the big bad in the movie defends the movie clamming that critics can be wrong.
“You work super hard to make something fun and entertaining and have to absorb the negative reviews by movie critics, but hey! THAT’S SHOWBIZ BABY.😎,All I’m gonna say before going to bed is this: All my raddest films have been slammed by critics. It’s f—— hilarious.
Dazed and Confused? Seriously? Classic movie. The Fifth Element! You would have thought that was the worst movie ever made if you read the reviews in like ‘98😂. Zoolander? Slammed,” she wrote. “Joan of Arc? Disaster. Resident Evil? Let’s not even go there.Anyway, every one of those films is now a cult classic. EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. And this will be too. Mark my words. Why? 1. Because of the amazing actors. David Harbour. Ian Mcshane. Daniel Dae Kim. Sasha Lane. They are all so damn wonderful and talented, the movie is worth seeing just because they’re in it, especially one that’s so much fun to experience as this is.”
As you compared the movie to cult classics which is appositive and negative. Negative not all cult classics are hits. Some just wind up with a fan base that loves a lot and continued to show the love long after the movie is out of theaters. This is also known as a fan base but is not enough to tip the scales to make good when the movie need to.
The positive is cult classics often gain momentum after the first week. That is something that we need to take into account as the movie industry focuses on opening day or week rather than the movie entire run in theaters. It is important to keep that in mind as we talk about this as cult classics found either gained moment or did better with Video sales. Zoo Lander and Fifth Element are good examples of movie that fans wanted more of even if critics didn’t. (We will leave Resident Evil movies out of this as that gained fans as well as frustrated fans.)
If you read what Milla is writing about she asking for fans to see the movie for yourselves and not just take Critics words. Think about it as I always say here. A review is an opinion and nothing more. You may value it highly or not. You may agree with it or not but that is what it is. Critics are no different in you are trying to asses something worth based on someone word. Something you might want to do yourself.
