Mortal Kombat XI is a great game but just like many when it came down to the final hours everyone was on board for crunch time. We have been hearing how these hours can be horrible and insane from numerous studios. Today people who have worked at Nether Realm wants to set the record straight.
“I was tired all the time. It took me about 30-45 mins to get home since I had to take a bus. But I know someone who stayed on the couch in the office to not risk falling asleep while driving. I literally had no life for several months. There just wasn?t time. I would get to work at 9 or 10 am. I would leave at 2-3 am. And then that process would mostly repeat itself. Honestly, I have no clue how I did it. I?m pretty sure I aged 20 years in the span of three months.”
This is the second story I have seen which a game has needed a lot of time and breaking effort form its team in order to get out the door. 1st being Rock Star with red dead 2. Now as you hear they are not forcing you but if you love it and need the job than you have to do it. Also seems to be a culture thing that will have to be confronted as this method of work can lead to serious problems. But with that said the dates to getting a project out on time takes out of you in any industry as you want out on time to get your revenue back. But when you have control of the release date of the games it sounds weird to note make more obtainable and reasonable for your team. But that is my thought on the matter. Let me know yours.
