Earlier this week we learned that Nether Realm did some serious crunchy time in order to get Mortal Kombat XI out the door on time. This crunch has become a big issue as it pointed out the pain staking work that went into the game at the last minutes and leaving some unhappy for the treatment. This is due to the fact that this compliant also high lighted poor work conditions at NRS.
“Sexist, transphobic and generally toxic behavior was rampant, likely due to the fact that people were working 80-plus hours a week for months on end and there was no accountability for such behavior. ” Former QA analyst Rebecca Rothschild
The same analyst would like people to know it wasn’t a total nightmare working at NRS.
“Working at NetherRealm wasn’t all a nightmare. I had good-hearted supervisors, incredibly talented and innovative co-workers and was working on amazing games.” Former QA analyst Rebecca Rothschild
Now I should point out NRS has posted a statement about this saying they didn’t know about these issues and are now addressing them case by case.
“At NetherRealm Studios, we greatly appreciate and respect all of our employees and prioritize creating a positive work experience. As an equal opportunity employer, we encourage diversity and constantly take steps to reduce crunch time for our employees. We are actively looking into all allegations, as we take these matters very seriously and are always working to improve our company environment. There are confidential ways for employees to raise any concerns or issues.” Nether Realm
Now all of this does effect not just the workers but your the gamer. Overworked in any field leads to mistakes and bad health. The over worked hours we are talking about are 60-70 hours time 7 days a week. But that is not all the article notes.
Th employee reveals that the big kick off event in Los Angels in January set the team back big months. The over worked team thought they can used what they already had but what was not communicated was just how much development had. As such we have such a bumpy start know with grinding and other issues.
That is it for now but if I learn anything else I will let you know. Please check out the full article for yourselves.

As always thank you for reading.
