Sony wants to bring your favorite PlayStation games to life. Taking a page Marvel Sony has decided to brings its own IP to life instead sending there titles out to be made. We learn this from the Hollywood reporter.
“Instead of licensing our IP out to studios, we felt the better approach was for us to develop and produce for ourselves. One, because we’re more familiar, but also because we know what the PlayStation community loves.”Asas Qizilbash, the vice president of marketing for exclusive games at PlayStation
Now Layden would go on to say that Marvel inspired Sony to take this step instead of them following in there footsteps.
“We looked at what Marvel has done in taking the world of comic books and making it into the biggest thing in the film world. It would be a lofty goal to say we’re following in their footsteps, but certainly we’re taking inspiration from that.” SIE chairman of Worldwide Studios Shawn Layden
Now for those wonder they do bring up the fact the translation from videogames to movies and film has not worked completely. But Shawn says that is because of a lack of understanding the medium. Or in some case the idea of how to transfer a videogame world or story into something you only watch only. Now Sony has a long list of games it can bring to life so it will be interesting to see what titles they chose from. From your long beloved JRPG like Final Fantasy, Legend of Dragoon or even Shadow Hearts to shooter like Resistance Fall of Man or platforms such as Jak & Daxter.
