Sony announced that it will bring some of your favorite game titles to the movies or tv series. I think we should talk about this more about what it can me to us fans of the company and the games it brought to us.
This is exciting as great my favorite series will come to TV or movies. You are hyped for it seeing your favorite game animated or given live action. You are pumped on this this and than it hits. Than you remember oh no they are making my game into a tv series or movie. DON’T TOUCH IT SONY. Is probably what most thought for some series. There is a good reason to feel conflicted about this and hopefully we cover it all here.
First the good. This as we guess can apply too all games owned by Sony or have been on the PlayStation. I will use guess as the exact way they will be going about this was not stated. This means that you can get modern choices such as Final Fantasy XV which some look as a way to stream line the whole story from the games, anime movies and novel into one medium. This can also be implied in bring to life FF games 8-12. I don’t see 7 as the remake will be telling a new tail that Square Enix will probably want in game. You can have Infamous which is Sony own version of mutants. Maybe Resistance take on WWII might be something interesting to see.
Or go back to classic games to bring to life once more with a new take on story with the franchise bring in old fans and it might bring new ones giving the promotion. With all the replays and people showing interest you might be surprise as to what stories might gain some people attention. From Legend Of Dragoon touching that game of thrones itch with the dragons and warfare. (I am sorry I know you are all still hurting from the ending but I figured it needed to be said.) The story can be shaken up to bring it to a new audience while exciting the old ones. As a fan I think Shadow Hearts can work for this as well as we get a wacky story and retelling of our world in an entertaining way. Mind you were talking about the main story. What if you use it as inspiration. Dragoon was supposed to have a sequel and that might be a good story. But this is you are still hyped for it.
If you are one of those saying oh no though it is understandable. Videogames into other mediums have not always worked out. Adapting a game where its world and story is meant to drive the player actions and gives them meaning hasn’t always done well on the big screen. Whether you are thinking of Dragon Ball Evolution or Street Fighter the movie we can think of a few big name titles that didn’t do well. Now to be far Sony knows this is a concern and says they have people who share it unlike before care about the source material. Yet we are still on the fence. Something making us feel uneasy. And that simply comes down to one question. Is that the answer? Just because you know the material doesn’t mean that it will work shades gray was arguable better as a movie franchise when the author was removed from production. Yet for things such as Sin City what made it work was that Frank Miller was there. What this shows is that there is no sure answer.
What is only left is to move forward. Should we be hopeful yes as it is exiciting what can come out of this whether it be a new uncharted series, bioshock or a JRPG. We should see what they do and judge them as we see how good or bad it is. Look on it keeping an open mind as to what they can bring.
