The King Of Fighters XV is in development and it has us itching to see what SNK has. One thing that is on the mind of many is who is going to be in it. Or in this case who will be returning for this we will be looking at one of them people brought back by Verse and that is Igniz.
A little back story for those who didn’t play KOF 2001 Igniz was the last boss but since he killed his father Nest he also become the big boss of the NEST cartel. He goal was to defeat the strongest beings on earth thus proving he was god but when that failed he lost it and tried to destroy the earth with a satellite only to have that fail to.
Now why do I say 2001 is because yes there was someone talking to K team as well as Krizlaid at the end but is not clear who that was. It was either him of hi father NEST. But that is not the only thing that is unclear about him. For one his power is unclear. Some say he modified himself with the data gather from the KOF tournament which makes sense as we never learned what happened to the data gathered by Krizlaid suit went. Plus with this being the technological organization you can see that being the case. However tech doesn’t explain all of Igniz abilities as we not only have him using gathered up moves but we also have him using magic or at least seems to.
Now this comes from people trying to explain his HSDM which is his hidden super desperation move from kof 2002. As you see in the video above Igniz summons a circle to create an orb that traps the opponent. The orb then shows the milky way galaxy before Igniz applies some sort of energy to cause it to shatter. This move introduces 2 things about the self proclaimed new god. The first being that he can use cosmic energy which is this is this cause is probably what he uses for his fire and lightning attacks just to smaller degree. Second is that he uses magic hence the magic circle. The thing about this is that we can’t just say that is suit meaning that this might be all of some of Igniz personal power. Now if Igniz does come back to the tournament it would be to gather data once again but we have 2 choice just like Rugal. 1 he can come in by himself as his ego is so big he doesn’t think he needs a team or he can come with a team.
By himself we will cover in mid boss run but for a team it will have to be NEST only. With that said we will have to take 2 thigs into account. 1 NEST feel apart when Igniz died so he has to rebuild in a sense. Now I know the manga right says that is not the case and that NEST is all well alive ready to invoke revenge but remember that manga on KOF aren’t always cannon. Even with South America team showing some shady scientist we still don’t know if NEST is at full strength as they have been keeping low profile during the Ash saga for that reason or just getting started again to get something going.
The 2nd part is if we are playing this officially than we have to look at the fact we talking about mostly scientist. KOF needs special type of fighters to compete in it. To prove this the only normal ones you can call totally normal are people like Ramon, Billy, Vanessa Antonov are technically are the normal people as Antonov is normal he is just really strong, Billy only has his staff, Vanesa is a speedy boxer and Ramon is a powerful luchador. Compared to the other fighters in the tournament these are some of the normal which means to go into this Igniz will need back up and they must be powerful fighters. One comes to mind as he has been Igniz number 2 many times and that is Original Zero.
Now original Zero was created as people didn’t like how Zero came out in 2000 so they just said that was a clone and left it at that. But in terms of story he was disgusted with his clone plans of betrayal an there for did his best to serve Nest to the best of his ability. Before you say it is a perfect it keep in mind that Zero loyalty was to Nest himself and the cartel. To fight along side Igniz would be difficult unless Igniz makes a deal with him to continue his father plan. Granted now this might come undone in the ending splitting Nest but that is if this happens. Zero as a fighter posses the power to manipulate light and is honorable. With that being said getting a back story on him to explain why a man who is honorable and like to raise would join an organization whose wanted to wipe out all fighters and rule the world.
Now for this it might get tricky. You see to me we have 2 choices 1 we can go with Krizalid. Krizlaid is the first boss of NEst saga for KOF 99. He uses a suit to gather fighters data for Nest. He was told he was a Kyo clone but we found out that he is actually a clone of K. He died with his body taken by the Ikari warriors only for Zero to get it. He was then killed again in 2001 as a striker for Zero who was then killed by Whip.
You will get a reference from Verse that Krizalid is inside of him when he defeats K saying I am the real one. fans have been wanting to see him again and this could be the way to do it. if you didn’t play kof 99 Krizlaid has 2 forms as he served as both mid boss and final boss. Mid boss had him dressed in the attire above only using dive kick, stomps and a fireball. In final boss mode had had reflection, uppercuts, 2 supers and was a pain to deal with. If he is revived we can have be the official rival to K as right now K doesn’t have one. Kula was made to be the anti K being a clone with reverse Kyo cells but she is on his side now so it would work. Plus there still the issue of him thinking he is Whip brother thus making him a character of interest to see how that plays out.
The other option is a character who was created to replace another character and that is Nameless. Now quick back story is needed Nameless appeared in KOF 2002 UM as a replacement for K49(k9999) as that characters was seen as a copy write of Akira character and SNK just made a new one. Keep in mind SNK didn’t make K9999 Elioth did as 2001 and 2002 was made by them. Now Since 2002 UM SNK has made Nameless but haven’t used him.
Now both Nameless and K49 have back stories. Nameless is on NEST mars base and uses dna from his dead friend in the form of a glove to keep his fire power in check. K49 was made to take out K and the other rogue agents but just disappeared. According to a novel the only one who knows where he is Angel. Now Nameless is sane K49 is nuts as in Yamazaki nuts. He is also powerful as he not only has the power to fire he also has the power to shape shift thus his arms transformation. Now what goes for K49 power goes to Nameless as he is K49 replacement at least go off about
Now SNK has not made a decision on these 2. Since 2002 we haven’t seen them. With that said people have been asking for K49 and someone wanted to give some artwork on him in kof xiv was removed. Also we have Nameless appearing in the movie game KOF 98 UM. It is just SNK hasn’t decided on what do about these 2.
Now this is my idea for a team to go with Igniz but I could be wrong and he could be a mid boss or bring in new people as these people might not getting along. Zero might not work with Igniz for killing his father. Krizalid and K49 might not want to work wit Nest period ad then we have Nameless not be introduced at all. But we will see when we learn more about KOF XV.
