Today we will be looking at and breaking down Fire Force ep 7 The investigation Of the 1st Commences. This will have spoilers so please check out the episode. AGIAN SPOILERS AHEAD.
Now we will skip the opening a little bit for now and catch up with Shinra. We see that the 5th and 8th company are having a feast as iris suggested. Remember this is to cover the fact 8th company attacked 5th so no one get in trouble and no one calls the cops. During this cock off we not only see Hibana trying to win over Shinra (which reminds me of Luffy and Bao from One Piece relationship. ) She also seems to be a little pervy. Just a little.
We also see her talk to Obi and actually explaining that she has been looking into things and finding someone is causing human combustion. This isn’t a big surprise as that is what Obi and those he is working with though was happening. The thing is Hibana leads there investigation to 1st as there have been odd things happening in there jurisdiction.
Now here is why I skipped the opening. In the opening we see that the first takes this training exercise picnic the 5th and 8th were doing as an indication they were coming to look into them. Why they assume this isn’t clear but it is another thing that makes 1st company look odd. Well Shinra, Arthur and some more are transferred to the 1st. This is so they can spy on them. Which leads to Shinra challenging burns and his Lt to a sparing match.
Now Burns agrees to this and some may say this is because this is a manga and this happens all the time. But why does it happen is important. Most of the time it shows you where characters stand. Hibana says it best when she says “I hope Shinra doesn’t get the wrong idea just because he beat me.” Just because you beat one doesn’t mean you will do the rest so easily. Now in most cases this so we can see that hurdle the main character has to jump or the limit they must surpass. Something that made clear when Shinra and Arthur both takes on burns and his Lts.
Now one of the Lt Rekka just shows his agility and dodges attacks well but it is when we see Karim in action that we see the flames abilities can take different forms as he can use the ability to remove heat and thus create ice. Meaning that we will see abilities that will have nothing to do with flames but with how we control the movement of molecules. We notice him being a nod to Justin Law with his head phones and music.
Now his ability is one thing Burns is another. Burns ability seems to allow him to redistribute fire in multiple forms. This allows him to cancels out Arthur sword and redirect Shinra power of fire around him never hurting him directly. For all x men fans this reminds me of hellfire club Shaw and his ability to absorb and redirect energy. We also see him use to enhance his strength as with one step he is able to hit Shinra with the force of a brutal punch to the sternum. According to the manga he is able to enhance his physical strength by using flame with his fire using fire incarnation.
Again this is needed to show Shinra and the 8th are powerful but have a long way to go as characters. As readers we see just how varied and powerful this world powers of flame are. how that will go is something we will see as the series continues.
