The King Of Fighters A New Beginning had 2 new chapters . Chapters 20-2 and 21-1 continues team K versus team south America while Psycho soldier invades a NEST base. It is still raw but I think we should go over it to see what is up.
We start with seeing NEST base being inflatrated by Psycho soldiers and that they are running Kyo. Now these are probably from the Kyo army. When the NEST saga started it began by NEST trying to use the Kyo army which is nothing but cloned Kyo to take over the world. They went with Kyo as he struck the finale blow to Orochi. This was a team effort as Iori held him and Kyo struck him. However despite its latest version it wasn’t with trinity 2 but 182 super which was originally an over hook punch you can charge up. You still see it as Kyo other super in KOF XIV.
Here it seems they are all gathering using Igniz custom. But with the way Chin is going through them they are not that powerful. Basically the clones were version of Kyo showing move list from him prior to KOF 99. Example with Kyo 1 being 95 or KOF XIII move set minus his ultimate move while Kyo 2 had his punching set. So as for strength it is hard to gauge how strong these clones were to begin with.
Now this is a nice call back but the Kyo arm was only mentioned in KOF 99. While cloning would continue to be NEST thing as after Kyo clones we got Zero and K49 as clones of Original Zero and K. What we should also look into is the fact that these kyo share the same mind controlling eyes. Which in game cannon they didn’t have before. Remember K isn’t a clone but a person who had Kyo flames infused into him. The same goes for Kula so they are biologically modified not clones. Speaking of which we se glimpses of K fighting Kula and this is an up hill battle for him.
Being the Anti K Kula is meant to take K out. She can use her power with both side of her body showing more power than K with his ability. Kula introduction to us as amid boss in KOF 2000 was her not only changing her hair color but freezing the stage over in an instant. If that is not enough we still see Kula opposing K with her moves canceling his.
The only thing that K has for him is his speed as Kula doesn’t have an answer for that. With that being said we see that Kula isn’t completely controlled. The face she is making shows her body is under control which is different from Angel and Leona as Angel was under complete control thanks to the bug NEST used. We see this not only with the cloned Kyo but also with Paula.
Now Paula is a new character but she is a call back to the NEST cartel. The only thing is that she is a failed experiment as they couldn’t get her to use her electricity. Well that was until the tournament. Now with that being the case we see the character not using her power with best control here. Something we don’t really see in the game except for her Climax move which has her blacking out and showing a different face than what we are used to. Here the authors take the lead that this is on her own.
Now with no other choice Athena is about to get serious. Something I can’t wait to see in the next issue. As well as what is being said as we await the translations.
