Barret: I coulda done that on my own!
Cloud: …sure you could.
Barret: Aye! Did you see me in action?
Cloud: Must’ve missed it.
Cloud: No time to celebrate.
CONTEXTUAL DIALOGUE (MAKO REACTOR)
Barret: You think if we fell in, we’d sink right to the bottom, to the planet’s core?
Cloud: No. The pump would suck us back up.
Barret: Hmph. How comforting.
[Climbing down the ladder] Barret: Yeah..let’s do this. Let’s do this!
CUTSCENE
Barret: Alright, let’s see if little Stamp really can bite the hand that feeds. Go on, do the honors. Prove to me you’re the man Tifa says you are – that you’re one of us.
Cloud: Never said I was. I’m just here for the paycheck.
Barret: [pause] Then do the damn job!
[Cloud has a moment]
Barret: What’s wrong? Hm?
Cloud: I’m fine. What about the time?
[Scorpion Sentinal approaches]
Barret: You double crossing –
Cloud: Heads up!
Barret: What in the hell!
SCORPION BATTLE DIALOGUE
Barret: Hey, how the hell do we fight this thing?
Cloud: It’s got reinforced armor plating, but the internals can be overloaded. Lightning magic.
Barret: Huh. No other option huh?
[If Barret doesn’t use lightning magic]
Barret: We barely scratched the damn thing.
Cloud: Didn’t I tell you to use magic?
Barret: Thought you were full of shit!
Cloud: Think whatever you want. Just do it!
Cloud: Hello? Lightning magic? Do you even know how to use materia?
Barret: Course I know how to use materia! What kinda stupid question is that!? Quit rushing me.
[When magic does low damage]
Barret: Huh? It didn’t work?
[If Barret free’s Cloud from the Scorpion’s grip].
Barret: Hey! Ain’t there something you wanna say to yours truly?
[If Barret doesn’t free Cloud from the Scorpion’s grip.]
Barret: Shit. Was just about to get you out.
Cloud: Wasn’t expecting you to do jack.
[Scorpion activates armor defense]
Barret: The hell is that?
Cloud: A barrier? Never seen this defense system before…
Barret: Thought you were the expert.
Cloud: So what’s your brilliant plan, genius?

Barret: This is my time to shine.
Cloud: Hmph… or go down in flames.
Cloud: Bingo! Focus on that core!
Barret: Oh now he remembers. Don’t keep me waiting in suspense next time!
Barret: If we don’t change it up soon, this thing is going to kill us both.
Cloud: Less talking, more shooting.
Barret: How about less [inaudible] from you?
Cloud: Bounced right off!
Barret: Nice try dumbass.

Cloud: Auto repair unit? Dammit – we gotta take it out quick or we’re screwed!

Barret: I ain’t going down fighting a god damn scorpion.
Barret: When I get my chance I’m gonna blow this bastard to hell up. And that’s a promise!
Barret: We gon’ let this thing keep pushing us around? I don’t think so!
Barret: Think I care about some cuts and bruises? ‘Cause I don’t!

When switching to Cloud

When low on health
Cloud: Not looking good.

Cloud: Gotta heal up.
Cloud: We could do something about these wounds.

When performing limit break
Cloud: You’re as good as dead.
Barret: This one right here is for the planet.
When Cloud is KO’d
Cloud: That all you… got? (?)
Barret: Come on! Whaddaya think we’re paying you for?

When Barret revives Cloud with Phoenix Down
Barret: You got this!
Cloud: Let’s do this.
