The King Of Fighters XIV was a rest for KOF allowing those who killed to come back through Verse. As we look forward to KOF XV I wonder just what type of stories await us. One of them I would like call battle of Gaia which would include Orochi hakushu and Those From A Distant Land.
Now this would be a battle for the power of Gaia which the Orochi has and Those From A Distant Land want. To get a good idea of that we need to go over who these 2 groups are starting with Orochi. Representing nature Orochi wants to destroy human so it can return the balance of nature humans as it see things are out of control. This is where hakushu comes in as they are loyal to this and want it to happen. To be clear these are those loyal to Orochi so Iori, Leona and Yamazaki don’t count. When thinking about this we have the heavenly kings as well as Mature and Vice.
For Those From A Distant Land we have a group seen a sealed away in Europe presumable working for Saiki as he released them from this distant. There goal under Saki was to obtain the power of Gaia from Orochi. They would take this power and go back in time and defeat those who were coming after them before they became a threat. This was Saiki plan.
Now Orochi is defeated and Saiki fate is unknown. But there groups are still active and it could be something to see how that goes. With Orochi we have the new face team brought back and they are the only ones confirmed right now. Remember we don’t know if Rugal counts as Orochi member or not and Leona father is a traitor so he doesn’t count. For Those From A Distant Land we don’t have anyone but Saki is proven he doesn’t need a body to live so right now he can just be that a spirit without body. As for his other member we have no word but they could be brought back as one of many characters to return thanks to Verse and the time paradox created by Ash actions.
With that said I can still see this as an interesting story in 2 ways. 1 we can have a direct fight. This would put the members of the 2 clans against each other as they try to get the power Gaia for themselves. I now we may want to say Those From A Distant Land are more powerful but there power is reality warping which the Orochi member can do. For Leona and Iori we see them turning everything red when they attack or use there strongest attacks. For the Heavenly Kings we actually see Shermie summon a lightning storm, Yashiro turning everything into lava before hitting with a super power punch and Goenitz summoning a wind storm that is so strong it can tear down structure by itself. Chris probably has the same level of power but since he shown to be the Orochi host during 97 his strongest feet is often channeling this being power. Taking that into consideration this would be an even match up.
Another way would be indirect. We must take into account that both group are not massive. They are powerful but from what we have seen so far there is only a handful of them. What this means is that direct battle might not be the way to go and they will have to find other means. Cloak and dagger. Keep in mind that during there arcs they fought from the shadows and didn’t make any big moves until they were ready. Now this is primarly because most of the characters we were introduce to were finale bosses. From Goenitz and the heavenly kings to Magaki and Mukai are all boss characters. How the boss reveal in KOF XV would work as I would guess would be as mid boss with what character our group depending on who faces them.
With that said we can take this as a chance to show off more of the group. We only know of handful of members but only seen a few of them in action. For Orochi we still have a family that has not been show off on top of the fact that we only seen one member of there family in action. Since it is blood lines we should have more of them they can use or channel. With the heavenly kings Orochi had there past selves return to take over there current reincarnations. This why we have physical difference between New Face Team and Orochi team but not too much. Those From A Distant Land is not to clear. Ash and Saki are the only blood line we have seen so far. As to whether or not the other members of any descendants of there own is unclear. Yes they were sealed but they could have had off spring before they were sealed or meet someone before then. Also we don’t know who sealed them. We know they have people to defeat as that is what Saiki was going to do before they became to powerful but as to who they are we don’t know.
Even with all that we need to see who is still loyal. We have not only rouge Orochi members but also Those From A Distant Land. Botan is wondering the world Shroom is with Shion and one more in another dimension. Yes Magaki put Shion in there but Shroom found a way in so there is a way out. As For Orochi the new face team is back but it is unclear if they will be following it this time around. We have Mature and Vice but what role they will play is unclear. Especially since SNK seems to have just brought them back just to give Iori his own team. But they are back as ghost so it is unclear if they have been fully revived or we are still going with KOF XIII and Orochi brought them back temporarily. So we need that answered as far as we go.
