Max of Yo Videogames posted a video on his reaction to the Guilty Gear 2020 stream. Arc System Works earlier had a stream going over the 6 character for the demo. In this we got to see how the game plays with some changes.
Max notes in the video that these changes are to grow the fan base but usually fails to do so as Street Fighter V and Mortal Kombat XI are those companies way of removing mechanics which leaves fans upset as the stuff they loved about the franchise is removed.
This is due to the fact developers think the biggest hurdle is mechanics and thus it is stopping them from growing its fans base. Mechanics are factor but it is only a deterrent or turns people off if they wanted to invest in it for the others reasons such as characters. But that doesn’t always work as we aren’t talking about getting the casual audience with these decisions. We are talking about converting them.
By converting we trying to make a causal gamer who plays a game for a bit and then walks away into a moderate who is interested and will invest in the game. Not as much as hardcore fan who knows the history of the game to the point they can answer lore questions. But they will be interested in the game to buy all the DLC or to see how the story it or online.
