Eventhubs.net has posted a new article about Street Fighter V Champion Edition asking a good question about Gill. It ask how will he factor into SFV story. If you are long term fan of the franchise this answer might be obvious to you. For those who are new and joined in with SFV let me explain.
Gill is the boss of SF3 series of games. His group wants to save man kind by wiping it out and then restarting it. His plan failed though as even though he defeated Alex he lost to Akuma by Raging Demon (how else would he do it.) He survived thanks to resurrection.
So how does this factor into SFV? Well SFV is to set up for SF3. You SF3 didn’t sell to well and as they did with Devil May Cry 2 Capcom said it is cannon just that it takes place into the future. SFV story was setting up with this as Kolin aka Helen was using Nash to complete a prophecy made by the now secret group(who were called the illuminate). Nash couldn’t for fill it as Ryu dealt the final blow.
So then we see Gill being reintroduced to us as the next big boss to the story. In way you can say SFV is reintroducing us to SF3 with Urien making Kolin playable Ibuki and bring in Gill. But what story will Capcom tell with this character is something we will have to see in SF6 or a new story mode. Which ever one they chose.
