The King Of Fighters XV is something we are hoping to see next year. But as we wait I can’t help but wonder the little ideas or teases that were left behind in XIV to help introduce us to this next arc. For this we will be looking at the scrolls that Geese mentions in his KOF XIV ending.
In the ending we have Geese talking about scrolls that mention Verse. But what scrolls is he talking about. The best guess is the scroll he got from Jeff Bogard that we see in KOF Destiny. This would be the Hakkyokyseiken scrolls. Names after Tung own fighting style these scrolls are mainly to help someone channel and project energy properly. In other words they were supposed to explain how Terry and the rest can throw fireballs.

Now that is not all they do as when Geese gets the scroll he gains more power so as it teaches the person to harness or channel more of the Earth power or magnetic field. At least that is what it was for Fatal Fury. In KOF we have the scrolls being mentioned now as we are entering a more FF themed arc as opposed to the previous ones which focused on Kyo and the other flame wielding heroes we have had so far.

I saw FF style as we have the scrolls not only coming into play we also have Tung being the master to which if you look he is the master of Fatal Fury character not KOF. But how big of a role will these play. In Fatal Fury there are 2 scrolls ok. One scroll channels energy and combat arts which is in Geese possession. There is one for strength and healing which Krauser has. The 3rd scroll has the secret of immortality which is what the Jin family had and lost. (Which is what the fight in Fatal Fury 3 is about).

But as we have seen with Geese in KOF XIV the scrolls don’t just mention power but Verse. With that in mind you must remember that the Verse we saw was an amalgamation or combination of many characters. From Ash to Rugal was inside Verse we saw as well as the true form we think. Keep in mind we still don’t know what landed in Australia in Verse ending. Many fans believe it is true evil Shun will have to face.

With the scroll in Geese possession foretelling this would happen we get a sense that the scrolls can serve as insight. But how much is the question? Keep in mind Geese only has one scroll. Meaning the other 2 can either tell us more in the sense as to what will happen or what he is. Now this can lead to big things here as you must remember one of the scrolls is with Krauser and this could be indication of coming back. If the SNK developers did this and listened to the fans we might have Krauser and Rugal in the same game.

Mind you that hasn’t happened before. Both have been in KOF but different games. Krauser was in 96 and only 96. Meaning he never faced Rugal. Now keep in mind he will not be alone as this scroll talks also means that the Jin brothers will be brought in with Jin Chornei and Jin Chonsue. Granted that is if they have the scroll as again in Fatal Fury 3 they were trying to retrieve it. Given if they are still possessed by there ancestors.

I know it sounds like i am splitting hairs here but you have ot remember that for the longest time KOF and Fatal Fury were treated to have separate time lines. Thus why Geese is alive in KOF and not in FF. At the same time they did share similar events such as the NEST cannon hitting South Town. With that in mind it is hard to see where this will. Oda might have this be the merging point for KOF and FF and then go into the next Fatal Fury. We will have to see as to where SNK can take this or where they will chose to.
But those are my thoughts. Let me know yours below as well as other thoughts or ideas for what we can look for in terms of KOF XV.
