Gill came into Street Fighter v Champion Edition with a story. And while it only had 2 fights it seems be setting up for something big. Something that we should look into. This will contain spoilers so if you haven’t seen the story mode or played it go check it out. SPOILERS AHEADS.
Now we learn that Gill is being introduced to the world in this game. Keep in mind Gill is the lead of the secrete society made by the society to fulfill there plan. So he has been kept under wraps. IN SF3 that is different but that is because this is leading to SF3. For those keeping score you have to remember that Capcom when games don’t do well in there respected franchises decided to put them in the future with other titles to fill in the time gap.
But the exchange with Kolin tells more than just that. Kolin is following Gill not just because of the society rules as he is the emperor but that he will lead them to a utopia. Now gill doesn’t now what she is talking about at first but then takes it in as something that will happen under his guiding hand. What the can be or will be is something we will have to see. One big thing to remember is that they are talking about a prophecy. This is something that talks about an event that is coming and Gill will be at the center of it.
But this isn’t the first time we heard this. The team Kolin was preparing was to full fill the prophecy that Gill would defeat Bison but have Nash do it in his stead. We know that didn’t work out but they are still going by it with Gill thinking it is time to reveal himself and the perfect way to do that will be to face off against G.
Now Gill wants this fight for 2 reasons. One he wants to face off with G as he has a power not mentioned in the prophecy. The other is he thinks it will be a great to be introduced to the world as G is trending. But when he faces him G calls him a prehistoric human. Something that seems odd for anyone to say even for G. But what is most odd is that Gill is just like the rest of us trying make sense of him but at the same time he knows him. Gill can’t name it but he seems to recall his power form somewhere.
Now this fight was for seen as it is who they are that would lead to these 2 fighting. Remember G sees himself as the president of earth and thus he represents everyone and is in charge of everyone. As for Gill he is the supposed messiah hence he is to be the world leaders. But with this fight we are still at a lost to who G is and it sounds like that will come into play latter on. Now this fight was seen by Urien who sees it as disgraceful and calls Gill out. And lets be honest he just wanted a reason so he can prove he is better then him. That it.
Now this fight goes as they all do with Gill winning hands down but it is what we learn from the exchange that everyone has to take into account. Gill refers to Urien as a spare. If you don’t know what he is talking about let me explain. Gill and Urien are technically modified humans in the sense the secret society modified there bodies to the degree they are now. For Gill and Urien Gill has taken in all of the modifications where as Urien was unable to do so.
But now we have Gill tell him that he will not only no longer be considered his spare or second but there time together as rivals (At least from Urien stand point) by the laws of there society is coming to an end. From there Urien can live however he wants sums up the society will no longer need you and that is something to take in. In SF3 the rivalry of these 2 was one of the games series standing points. But to have Gill say it will all be over soon is one of the signs that Street Fighter will finally be moving past 3. Another sign is that Gill calls himself emperor which is something he did in 3rd strike when he gave CEO and President titles to Urien.
This can all be setting up for SF6 where we get past SF3 story line and take care of these elements all be it with new ones. I mean new ones as we need to see where the power of nothingness fits into this that Ryu used to take out Bison. Remember the Shotos were added once SF hit home consoles and in later iterations as fans found the all new cast too much so Capcom added familiar characters such as Ken, Ryu and Akuma to the series. We will have to see what role G plays as he seems to be more than what we is letting on with us and then we will have to see what Capcom does with Alex. Now while SF3 had 3 winner with Alex, Yun and Chun Li all winning there respected games in the small series Alex story is more closely tied to secret society as he is one of the people who can be the messiah. Meaning he can handle the same modifications Gill did. And they even played with that in SF3 where in Gill ending he bestows some power to Alex. But we will have to wait and see where they take it.
