Shadow Hearts 3 was set to be a prequel starting Yuri father that never came true. As to why that is the case I was lead to believe that it was due to the rights in Universal Entertainment and thus they canned it as they are focused on Pachinko now. But a new tweet from twingamefactory say that may not be the case.
Translation
“The rights belong to UEC (the Aruze Corporation of yesteryear), and yes, it is dedicated to pachinkos and arcade machines. But the creator of the saga, Matsuzo Machida, confirmed a few years ago that Shadow Hearts 3 was in the process of conception, launching concept art and everything.
Therefore, I do not know if the issue of property rights is as much the problem as it can be funding, which is where I think the shots go. Not long ago I asked Machida directly on Twitter and she replied that you were still at it”
Original
Now before anyone says anything many fans have brought up crowd funding. Machida has turn them down. The main reason can be that Machida wants to own the game with no issues of how has control over it. It may sound like a weird thing to say but keep this in mind.
Both SNK and Sacnoth were under the Aruze umbrella. Yet we have SNK and not Sacnoth. Why? The president at the time kept the rights to KOF and Metal Slug. Hence he was able to make SNKplaymore selling new KOF games while porting old Metal Slug until we have SNK now. Studio Wild Rose is Owned privately for that one reason so I believe that doesn’t happen again.
Now I could be wrong by all means. Hence why I am doing this post. As far as I know it is about who owns it. But for al I know it could be about the money as we are talking about a JRPG. Videogames are expensive to make in general let alone a JRPG as one of the most expensive ones. So you will need some funds not only get it off the ground but get right. And that can be it behind the scenes.
I say behind the scenes as I have asked Aruze and Universal Entertainment. Aruze pointed me to UE and UE politely said they have no plains or want to. Thus I believe it is on them. But I could be wrong. But let me know what you guys think about it. Funding or rights? Let me know.
