We have been hearing that the PlayStation 5 will be backwards compatible through out 2019. In 2020 I hope it goes all the way to the PS2 if not 1. This is do to me having games that are not online to download and play on PS4 through PSN as not all the games through the PS1-PS3 life cycle are up there.
But why am I wishing it. Basically because we keep getting reports that it is a thing and then that it isn’t this new one comes from HipHopGamer who says that it is true and that it will work the same Xbox One did in not only being backwards compatible but also make them HD quality. We have seen proof of this as Sony did by a patent for software that would allow this to work.
The issue comes is that it is not official. The only thing official is that the PS5 is backwards with the PS4 as the same team that made the previous console worked on the PS5. Granted in an interview there were hints that it would go further back than that but we will have to see when we learn more about the PlayStation 5 this year.
