Seven Deadly Sins battle with the demon king came to and with them victories but at the coast of Escanor life. As such we now have only 6 sins. But what if the manga is setting up a replacement for the lion sin of pride? This post will be aimed to discuss that. But it will contain spoilers so please go and check out the following chapters before proceeding. AGIN SPOILERS AHEAD.
Now for this I imagine 2 condidates to replace Escanor. This comes to Mael and Arthur. Mael is 1 of the four archangles and the person who powers Escanor was channeling. Arthur is the king of Camelot but as we see in recent chapters Arthur is going through some changes that would make him perfect for the role as the sins next heavy hitter.
Lets talk mind set as Escanor duo personality is split between these 2. For Arthur humble king who is kind and in some ways doesn’t think he is up to it. Escanor was royalty but was disowned due to the fact people feared his power. Now with that being said Arthur isn’t weak like Escanor and can fight back and has done so with great skill.
With Mael we see some kindness however according to his brother his pride can be seen in Escanor when his powers were active. It hasn’t been stated directly but it could be that with using Mael powers Escanor was also channeling some of his personality as well. This means for pride and arrogance we might be looking at our angel. Even before his body his mind was switched we see Mael being proud of not only being an angel but also being able to take care of demons.
So lets talk powers. Arthur was shown to be skilled with some magic but in recent chapters we have seen the king Camelot shows of some real power. We will start off with his sword as once Excalibur is awakened Arthur is given all the skills and experience from previous wielders. As for the new arc we are in Arthur has now been granted the power of chaos thanks to method Merlin used to revive him. We don’t know what this power is as when it was used it just warped reality it self and then it was shown to put things back to normal. How Arthur will use that power or how is hard to say. But we can say he has great power at his hands.
As for Mael we can get an idea of his basic power thanks to Escanor channeling it for so long which means incredible strength. But unlike Escanor you must remember that this is Mael power and not something he is channeling only in one way but he can do us this incredible power of the sun in ways Escanor couldn’t. We have seen this when Mael faced Zeldris using the heat of the sun to melt his sword making his finishing move useless. But that is not his only power. Mael was turned into one of the ten commandments and while the commandment is gone we don’t know if it didn’t leave any lasting effects. For instance we don’t if he can still wield dark magic as well as his angelic power. We will have to see if that is the case.
But that is if Kodansha goes down that rout. Right now we will have to see where they go with this. Do we get a new sin of pride or will that spot forever be Escanors. Lets see as we await to see more of the sins.
