What I want to see in 2020 is Bloody Roar revived. Yes I know we talked about this last year how I would like to see it as there is no other game like and it would do great. And I still a bid by that. For those who didn’t see the previous post let me walk you through it.
Bloody Roar focuses on Yuri Hugo a Zoanthrope wolf type who fighting style is based on boxing with a few kicks thrown in. The main story is Zoanthrope trying to find peace with the human race who fears and hates them. Think marvel mutant but with animals and you are pretty much set.
Just like the mutant they also have there share of enemies. From man made experiments to Uranus to forces that want to destroy the world such as the unborn. We have also had them try for a Zoanthrope utopia which was bloody primal. A lot of similarities with Zoanthrope and mutant isn’t it.
Gameplay wise you would have human form, beast mode and hyper beast. Your powerful moves are in beast form but you will be using both as they heal during cool down. As you can imagine we don’t have a fighting game like this. As such I suggest this would do good right now. I am not alone either as we do have people petitioning to bring the game back to life.
Now there was a mention of Bloody Roar 5. It would be a reboot. (Much is the case for games being brought back today) The issue is that it was an April fools joke. The thing about it though is a 5th was planned but canceled. So this April fools was using an idea. The thing is that it was a canceled one.
Fans have been trying to reach to Konami and Hudson soft who own the rights but have no interest in bring it to life at the moment. But you never know especially with how Konami is looking back to stay in videogames and running out of title they might look back and consider reviving the franchise.
But how would it play? The game just needs to take advantage of a few things that were made common. Stage transition has been made big thanks Dead Or Alive but the way that would benefit Bloody Roar is to do it the same way of Injustice. I see it being if you are human it is normal but if you are in beast mode you get wild as you particle beaten to the stage through the air straight there or off the walls. This depends on which type of animal you are. I would also suggest a mix of new and old special moves and new supers with one crazy move you can use. I know this basically standard but if you look at the move set for Bloody Roar it doesn’t change. The last change was 4 but you had to unlock those.
I do hope this happen as the series does deserve to return. If it does rest in the company hands. But those are my thoughts. Let me know what you think.
