Hello all. Today I thought it would be a good idea to talk about one of my favorites K’ Prime of The King Of Fighters. Particularly his glove as I noticed some fans are asking about what is underneath it. You see his glove was made to keep the power of fire he has in check. This power of fire comes from the Kyo genes that have been bonded to his right hand.
Now while the initial discussion was on K hand and whether or not it is a fake. I think it would do us better to discus his both as SNK seem to jump back and forth on how important this is to is K.
It is important to K as the glove helps him manage Kusinagi flame. This is due to the fact that K without the glove K actually took out a lot of Kyo clones. So he needs the glove it would seem. Especially as we see in the ending of KOF 99 when he is introduced the flames will burn out of control with out it. Something that worried him as Maxima had to help him up after his battle Krizlaid saying he can handle the hear.
Sounds like the meaning has been establish. That is until KOF 2000. This time around K takes the glove off himself as he remember whip as his sister with no problem. This is proves that this is one of those times where we have a point in lore and writer seem to do with it as they will. Not nearly as crazy as a plot device but close enough.
This is duo to the fact there is no consistency for how much K needs the glove let alone what is under it. As you see above in 2000 K is in control and there are no flames. Yet we have moments in other games where the flames are not under his control. I don’t just mean for when Kyo gets pissed of an K hand is engulfed in flames. As in 99 he just loses it control. Again you have to remember that according to lore for KOF 99 K needs that glove so he doesn’t take people out as with out it he took out other Kyo clones.
This is worse in the comics. The comics are not cannon so basically they take the game main story and put there own in spin normally keep the fact the one who defeated the boss the who one defeats them. We see this a few times in the comics but at the same time you have to remember this is based on fighting games which game play is 1st and some story not a lot is 2nd.
So details such as K needing his glove or what lies under it remains unclear. I hope in the future that changes but until lets hope to learn more of K and what he can do with Kyo flame.
