We have been doing a series discussing The King Of Fighters XV and what character mentioned to be brought back in XIV would be like in this game. Recently we have been looking at what impact these character would have on story. With this entry we will be looking at the first boss for KOF becoming its own series Rugal and what effect he would have on the story.
Rugal is best known for being a boss thanks to a producer who kept bringing him back in dream matches. In story he didn’t get far as he was the introduction to the Orochi through Omega Rugal and then he dies as he can’t handle the power. But between that and the fact he only started the tournament because he was board how do we bring him into the mix or see he would effect the story going forward.
The best way is to look at it in 2 ways. 1 Rugal always has cash. Even in dream matches Rugal has the cash and resources. And given the fact his kids and brother have been keeping things going it would only make sense he comes back and takes over to use the funds how he sees fit. Most likely to go after Kyo for defeating him. It was his way in 95 it will probably be this way as well.
Now the other way which will effect the story is power. Rugal will want more power to takedown Kyo and anyone else who faces him or gets in his way. This would have him looking into Verse so he can use its power as his own.
This would lead to us having another version of Omega Rugal. Yes omega as we do need it. Think about it Rugal is best known as a boss. But other than 94 all the version people have been facing are Omega. So if you want the boss version you will need to bring this guy back.
How would he obtain this is getting a piece of Verse. Remember he was a container and as such can have anything in him. Proof is he had the Orochi inside of him along with Igniz, Ash and Rugal. And we were never told exactly what limit he had so it can be anything until SNK decide to say no to what was inside of him.
But again that leaves how he obtains it. Rugal is neither a mystic or scientist so he would need other means to obtain this power. This would be where his riches would come in as he would probably bye some Nest people who left the organization to work for him. Either through promises great wealth or holding a family hostage. Whatever way works for him obtaining that power.
But that is if we get a proper story for him. For all we know he can be added as a DLC boss and thus we get intros with him and nothing more. Hopefully SNK doesn’t do that with KOF XV DLC but you never know. But what do you think? Let me know.
