There many question in regards to The King Of fighters XV. (Basically because all we have is the logo to work with.) But one question that many are wondering is should drive cancel come back? Drive cancel was introduced in KOF XIII but it elevates the idea of max mode from previous title which allows you to cancel specials into each other.
Now max mode allows you when you had the full bar to cancel moves into eachother. Drive cancel was for XIII when you had the meter and you can do it out side of max mode. Keep in mind this was a 2 bar system. But can this system return for KOF XV or the bigger question is should it.
Drive cancel sounds cool but it also can make crazy combos to much. For most characters that is fine especially given how much you have do to fill it. Keep in mind these are moves that normally don’t cancel such as Terry going from power wave to burn knuckle or crack shot. Also this might lead fans to ask just give them normal max mode from KOF 2002 and add the ex moves and they will be fine as that should be enough. But when asking what should go into the next game we should ask about everything we can.
At the same time again there is such a thing as too much. While some games tone things down it is okay for KOF XV to be crazy but having too many mechanics will make everyone feel overwhelmed. And I do mean everyone as even pros can feel some things are too much for them. So should drive canceling be in or out? This depends on SNK really.
I know it sounds like a cheap out but this really does matter. Depending on how SNK sets up the system fans may like it. As we saw with XIII no one really had big issue with drive cancel over all as they were to upset with netcode and the DLC being cut off due to limitations. So it really fall to how SNK do drive cancel or whether or not it will be in the game as many did say just give the same max mode from XIV. We will have to see as we look forward to news on this new game.
But those are my thoughts let me know what you think as we await more news on KOF XV.
