D.grayman is a manga that releases chapter seasonally. As such I figured it would be a good idea to give a reminder/ breakdown of things that happened so that you can understand what is going on in the new chapter. As such thee may be spoilers so please if you do not want to be spoiled stop now. AGAIAN SPOILERS AHEAD.
The chapter starts with General Cross and Road who are actually talking while watching Mana. During this conversation upon mentioning pillar Road face distorts as she cannot contain her rage towards it. Now the pillar seems to have been something that from what I can see destroyed the world and the memories of those people became the Noah. I saw interpret as the exact details of the event are not explained as this is again Cross talking with a angry Road. But what we get from Cross this time in this chapter is that the Noah memories are manipulating the earl as well as the family as Cross tells road not to give in only to have her be teleported away.
We then bounce back to Allen who in this arc is down on his luck and is distant from everyone. This is opposite of how we have the fans have come to know him as we learned in the last flash back arc that this is the real Allen. Allen we found out suffers from a case of personality disorder where as he has taken on the manners and characteristics of mana after he believed he had died. Now in this chapter we see Allen get close to the dog and save it from eating some sort of poison. During this time we see that Apocryphos is also walking around. This gives us the sense that everyone is waiting for Mana to become Millennium Earl. That is my guess as we do not know why Apocryphos is here but we can surmise it was on the pope order.
But this main chapter is showing us everyone is waiting for Mana and the events are slowly getting there as we are leading up to when he dies or supposedly dies. Remember he becomes the earl so doesn’t die just gets taken over. But at this moment we have the dog being the focus and because of Allen interference what we get is the dog being found dead Keep in mind Allen at this point isn’t carrying about anything only to have something or someone he was getting close to taken away.
Now how this will all come together is something is something we find out in spring as we learn what the Noah and Innocence wants with us as the one thing we are learning about this series in this arc is that both side are using humans to fight there war. And I hope we learn more about it.
