Shenmue III Not A Triple A Market Game

Shenmue III is one of the titles fans wanted and has come true thanks to crowd funding. That in its self is a triumph. But Deep Silver CEO Lars Wingefors explains that this was not a triple a game for the market.

“I was happy to see the core fans of Shenmue [were] happy, but it’s clear that Shenmue is not a triple-A mass-market product. It’s a product for the fans and I’m happy that we pleased them.

Shenmue III is an IP and a product I love. I think financially it’s fine and I’m glad the core fans are pleased. However, I think it’s a challenge to see this as a mass-market product. It’s a core, niche product and that’s the comment [I have] on that game.”

Sounds like Shenmue III didn’t do to well. But we can’t say that right now. Lars didn’t mention any numbers so we can say at this time if the game failed to reach its goals so it can earn or did something else happen. But if we hear more about I will let you know.
