It seems The King Of Fighters A New Beginning is somewhat cannon. I learned during a stream of NeoGeo Now playing Fatal Fury Wild Ambition. Neogeo was asked by someone if the manga was cannon to which he explained as kindof.
Basically we have Oda supervising the manga but they are allowed to take liberties. As such we see Iori go into Blood riot and Kyo fight a clone of himself controlled by Igniz. Now how much is lore and how much is the manga artist interpretation is hard to say.
But one thing that we know from NeoGeo now as he asked Oda this stuff during an interview is that they didn’t want them to prelude to KOF XV too much. So basically the manga will tell the story of XIV and maybe stop. This is news as fans have been wondering if the manga is cannon. This only applies to this series. I have to say that as most of the game in the main cannon have manga or graphic novels attached to them. But how much of them are cannon is unclear since they take there own creative views on the arc.
But with that said I am hyped to see where this manga takes us. Hopefully we learn more and it once again gets an anime adaptation.
