Bloodstained ritual of the night had a stretched goal to add Roguelike to the game. Well that has been scrapped and instead we are getting a randomizer. The reason why is because the coding for the addition isn’t working with the game and thus we are getting something else.
“The reason why the Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Roguelike Mode has been scrapped is because the code for the game is apparently not compatible with the sort of gameplay that roguelikes have, especially if the castle were to be procedurally generated. However, as the team behind the game don’t want to take away a promised stretch goal feature without adding something back in return, it will be adding a Randomizer Mode that allows each run to give you a different experience.
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Randomizer Mode is a new mode that allows players to make changes to their Story Mode experience. This includes enemy item drops, how quest rewards are given, save warp rooms, and key item locations. That said, there are safeguards to ensure that softlocks aren’t possible, especially since using key items to progress is essential to Metroidvanias. The generated seed can be shared with others. A timer will also track your progress and completion time.”
