Guilty Gear Strive Zato And Milia Moves

Guilty Gear Strive showed off a new trailer which unveiled Zato and Milia. Now with this trailer we got to see some of the moves of the 2. I will post the info of the moves below from Guilty Gear Project who was kind enough to post the information online.

Trailer analysis

0:13 the combo Millia does looks like it can be further extended. The timing looks like it might be tight, but Millia is falling normally while Chipp is still in the upwards-spinning hitstun animation. I could be wrong, but it really looks like they intentionally ended this early.

0:18 The throw looks like it leaves the opponent at the perfect range for the new airdash. Maybe in range for the air disc as well? I’d like to see what we can do here, but it looks like Millia gets to get in your ass after throwing you. Maybe not quite as scary as Xrd, but there’s something there.

0:23 This is the juiciest part of Millia’s trailer imo. Comboing into 2D allows her to setup the meaty air disc and air dash afterwards. From what we know about the air dash, you can change your trajectory by doing certain moves during it. Maybe it’s possible to fall short with her here? If so, it makes this a legitimate 4-way mixup. Otherwise, you have to react to the airdash symbol to figure out which way to block. Could be really cool, could be somewhat disappointing.

Millia looks as dumb as she ever was so far, though. So I like that.

Zato looks like he’s possibly been changed significantly, so I’d like to hear Zato player’s opinions on him.

0:35 Looks like pretty standard Zato stuff right here. This is good since it suggests that Eddie is still controlled the way he was in the past.

0:38 This is the scary part. Eddie does this chain drill move and I’m leaning towards believing that this is the replacement for the big drill that would setup unblockables in Xrd. However, instead of removing Eddie from play, he’s still there. Trading unblockable damage for an insane blockstring that shoves the opponent to the corner? May be good, but that depends on what you get to open up the opponent afterwards. Either way, it shifts Zato’s focus a little bit and I don’t know how I feel about that.

OR

It could be the replacement for Eddie’s buzzsaw attack. Which would mean all is possibly well. Either way, we won’t know until we get to see more or play.

0:40 Okay, this looks cool. The input is what determines whether or not it’s scary. Could this be the new Eddie D? Could this be break the law? I would say it’s Drunkard Shade, but we’ve already seen that earlier in the trailer. Maybe it’s something different and actually his taunt? That’d be funny.

TL;DR: Millia still looks like Millia, Zato possibly changed, but also possibly not. Hard to tell at the moment, but I’d say stay positive. Eddie Drills could be Mawaru, could be the big Drill. Don’t know yet.

Milia

Millia j.K still in.

j.H appears to still be in, albeit changed since Xrd

j.D /j.S appear to have changed considerably, as has Millia’s Aerial Options.

She appears to have a Chroming Rose move that gives her an extra jump option during combos.

She now appears to have a dash-momentum based throw maneuver (reminds me of breaker dash from GG1, but is throw based).

2H crouching launcher seems to have returned… but now she has a new move which causes ground bounce in to what I can only assume is an “evolved” version of Tandom Top (Emerald Rain)?

It might even be a variant of Pretty Maze.

This new Tandem Top move appears to force a character to block regardless of knockdown.

Millia also seems to have a more meaty standing K, and a sliding crouching 2S, but this also leads back in to the Tandem Top?

She also appears to follow the move up with ground Roll into Digitalis, aka Longinus thrust move.

Winger also appears to have returned as her Overdrive/Chaos Attack!

Zato

Right off the bat, Drunkard Shade has returned, along with a ground Eddie Poke (Eddie P?)

Zato’s 6K Overhead looks to have changed somewhat and looks slightly meatier.

This time EDDIE is the one who summons “MULTIPLE” Invite Hells (Level 3 version?), meanwhile Zato can fly while it’s active, and follow up with moves like j.K and what appears to be j.D with a more horizontal movement.

Eddie now has a move in which he generates a GUARD POINT and can actually strike back from this position, his traversal movement appears to be different, though I didn’t see Buzzsaw in action, this could be a variant of Megalith Head.

Zato’s “Damned Fang” Command Throw appears to now cause a float action, and Zato can do what he wants with his opponent during the move!  (It might be yet another function of Eddie’s, similar to Dead Man’s Hand.)

Analysis OVER…. for now!
