The King Of Fighters XIV has been used as a point to bring many characters back including Rugal. The series first and favorite boss. But with his return we need to talk about his son Adel as with his father back one must ask what to do with him?
This question can be applied to both personality and gameplay. As Adel is meant to be a student version of his father. Basically he has incomplete moves of Rugal while he has down pat. Examples being his weakened of genocide cutter but yet full power version of the end close line SDM. Some can say he was a place holder as with Rugal dead or saved for Dream Matches as it were we got Adel to satisfy that itch. But wit Rugal back we need to see what SNK will do with the son. And that question can also be applied to his place in the story.
Adel when it comes character only shares Rugal fighting power and name. For personality that seems to go to his sister. So then what is the purpose of the son who doesn’t share his family blood thirst. It is something I have to be honest I have been waiting to see what SNK would give us as the answer to this. Basically Adel felt like he didn’t know which way to go. He didn’t want to fight but yet he was being forced to move in that direction.
Will this put him at odds with his family causing him to go the Jin Kazama rout? A route that out of hatred for being used Jin not only left his family but decided to unlearn everything Heichi taut him leading Adel to do the same? Will he join Heidern as a conflicted team member hoping to bring his family to justice to some how repent for his father evil deeds? Or will he loyal serve his father. Not being the combative one Adel will chose to help the family rather than upsetting it.
Or will SNK keep the family separate? Rugal can be doing his thing while Adel goes after Botan for using his sister. (Yes I know the time paradox should have taken care of that but it doesn’t seem to with Ash and Elizabeth.) In truth Adel is someone who can go either way and I really hope we get to see what SNK does with him soon. But those are my thoughts let me know yours.
