Manga for the most part are made one done with a few exceptions. But given how Shonen Jump is looking for big hits and fans want there old series back the question is should they do it the same way that Western comics due with different artist and writers haver there own runs on the series?
For those who don’t know not all hits work and thus manga companies are now doing more sequels. We see this with Fairy Tail, Dragon Ball and Seven Deadly Sins and Naruto. But with these titles we see some creators stay on and work on it such as Hiro for Fairy Tail and the 100 year quest and Nakaba for Seven Deadly Sins. But For Naruto and Dragon Ball that is not the case.
For Dragon Ball Super and Boruto Akira and Masashi both are more of back set rolls as new artist do the work and come up with the stories. They basically make sure they don’t go to far with the characters they came up with. And given how the manga business is you can’t blame them. But given that is the case and we do have artist doing there own run on the series and it is working as fans are liking it should we adapt runs.
If you do not know run are basically an artist and writer term on a series for instance the Snider run on Batman. Seeing as how these series are doing so well that might come into being. Especially given how the companies see them as to big to end. That is the one thing that told me for sure that Kodansha would continue seven deadly sins. They turning them into a franchise of there own and such the manga wouldn’t just end. With that said hover for this case the creator is still on board creating the sequel series. But this doesn’t count as a run either.
Out of all of these Dragon Ball is the best view of a run as we see the same character but under different artist. Given how well the series is being received both in manga and in anime. It is best to say we may get another if the artist ever stops before Shonen done with the series. But the question is will this become the norm for any series that does well? It could but if are honest there are some issues.
With different artist and writers the characters may go changes that don’t always work. DC and Marvel fans will gladly tell you stories they along with stories they would soon forget. At the moment we have the original creators keeping things check. When there time comes we will have hope the people put in charge of the series they were given keep the spirit of the series in mind as they are task to take in new directions expanding the universe.
A gamble but one that a company might want to take to keep thing running smoothly. And with us looking back on titles to keep going it might become an actual thing. But those are my thoughts let me know yours.
