d Gray Man ch 236 is out and I thought it will be nice to talk about it. There will be spoilers so please if you don’t want to be spoiled then stop now and go check it out. AGAINA SPOILERS AHEAD.
To catch everyone up Goodbye to AW is an arc where we look back at Allen past when he mets Mana. During this time we see Allen is completely different then who we have come to know him. In the past he is angry and only acted the way he does in present due to taking on the personality of Mana.
In this chapter we see Mana coming outside to find out Allen the dog is dead. He wants to grieve. He wants to show some emotion for a dog he took in but cannot as if he does the earl will come out.
Keep in mind we know everyone knows he is the Earl or will be. From general cross to the Noah family and the living innocents. Everyone is waiting for him to transform into the earl so they can start the war proper. But as Mana regains his composure he is met with Allen.
Allen tells him who did it and all Mana can do is smile. Now what follow sis Allen letting it all out. All of his rage and Mana is thankful as Allen is venting for him what he wants to say but can’t Something Allen notices in Mana himself.
Now we see Apocryphas watching stating Allen will destroy Mana one day before they walk off with Mana carrying Allen. From here we get to see them start forming a stronger bound a bound that will come to define Allen. It defines him as Mana decides to bring him into his act.
That may sound small but keep this in mind. At this point Allen has been treated as nothing more than back stage help and picked on needlessly. This brings him to the stage and see what the others work for and enjoy. Now what come next as we learn more about them is something we will have to see in the next chapter.
