Skullgrils is getting a netcode update. Basically we have the idea of getting more online options. I will post the details below so you can see the information and decided on how you feel about this update in detail.
“Skullgirls released all the way back in 2012 which has since evolved after a multitude of big updates and re-releases and continues now in 2020 to improve what is already considered one of the best online experiences in fighting games.
Following the recent patches to upgrade the game’s already great rollback netplay, Skullgirls programmer and designer Mike Zaimont has updated the PC version to add a Wi-Fi indicator for the online modes.
When playing in the title’s lobbies or in Quick Match, Skullgirls will display (WF) on a player if it detects a wireless connection being used along with a adding in a small red dot in the upper left of the screen.
Like the previous netcode improvements, this new update only applies to the PC version of the game and more than likely won’t appear on consoles due to a number of factors.
This also isn’t part of the base game just yet, so players will need to be part of the GGPO test branch beta on Steam to access the new connection options.
There is no filter option being considered, however, as Zaimont views the blanket rejection as probably a step too far and leaves the decision to turn down matches in the hands of the players.
Wireless indicators have been quickly rising the ranks of most-wanted online features in fighting games in recent years, but the number of titles that implement the feature currently are few and far between.
Games like Mortal Kombat 11 and Dead or Alive 6 include these connection type details, but they’re about the only non-indie ones to do so at this point.”
