Shadow Hearts has many characters that will captivate you. But it has been shown to focus on 2 families. The Hyuga family which is Yuri clan and Valentines which have had one member in your party in all 3 games. But in From The New Word were introduced to the Black Bat one of the most powerfullest members of the family but he is so old he only speaks bat. As such since we know he must turn into a human we must ask what he be like in combat.
I am going with human form of combat as when it comes to personality we need to see how they would write him as each of the siblings are much different in there humans forms than there bats. Hilda and Joachim both show different personalities in there human forms as well for that matter and makes you wonder what this guy would be like as a party member.
Each time we got a Valentine member we got to see a new feet of power they can do or mechanic. Keith introduce us to the family showing off there traditional vampiric magic and swordsmen ship. Joachim then not only introduced the transforming mechanic where we see the forms introduced in 1 put into practice but he also showed of a vampires strength mixed in with his wrestling moves. We also see him have different personas depending upon if he has a mask or not. Hilda was mix of strength in chubby form and caster depending upon how many calories she has had.
So what would are dear Black Bat bring. We know that because of Covenant he will have transformations into a bat which will be the glass cannon (strength and speed but no defense). And lets say for instance he also has the invisible man form which makes him hard to target. So then we are left with his power. His special skills which I think we should look at Keith as a blue print.

Since we are talking about one of the older members of the family I think Keith traditional sword and black magic would work for him. But I do not think it should be copy and past. So I believe he should have some serious magic with him. You know spells that start the same as Keith but then we see why this guy is so dangerous. But that cannot be all. This is Valentine and as Joachim shows there is a mechanic to all from that point we need another form.
We covered in one of my what if where we talked about the black bat probably being a member of your party in the prequel. Well I would to touch on that again. Basically I see him bouncing between you and old with old being more magic heavy and young being more brute strength. This would effeteness of your skills depending on form. Sound straight forward right?
But if that is the case what will be the zenith for this vampire when we get the side quest. We are talking about a JRPG and thus we must keep this in consideration. That would be middle age. A perfect balance between strength and speed with magic knowledge and wisdom. And maybe a new final skill to go with it.
Those are my thoughts let me know yours as we await to see more of the day this beloved series returns.
